Trader Vic’s – Bangkok’s Venerable Brunch Spot Has Reopened and is Better than Ever.Trader Vic’s – one of Bangkok’s best-known and loved brunch spots – has re-opened, and we recently embraced the chance to enjoy its renowned “aloha, sit back and relax” vibe and amazing food..“Absence makes the heart grow fonder” and my family, and I, quickly fell back in love with Trader Vic’s beautiful Chao Phraya setting and its vibrant Polynesian tiki design and décor. It’s the ideal spot to relax and recharge after a hectic working week..
Our Highlights: Trader Vic’s has been refurbished with new colorful tables, chairs, paintings and an outdoor terrace that’s tailor-made for large get-togethers and entertaining..Cuisine-wise, Trader Vic’s is renowned for its own style, incorporating some Polynesian flavors and cooking methods in its vast array of dishes. There is something to please all palettes including many crowd-pleasers from Australian prime rib roast to Alaskan king crab, and the ever-popular homemade pasta from the cheese wheel.
The award-winning Spice & Barley restaurant also provides a delectable selection of dim sum and crispy pork belly. Other standouts include truffle risotto, seared Hokkaido scallops – topped with seared foie gras and port wine jus, Eggs Benedict served with smoked Atlantic salmon, butter spinach, and lobster rolls. Other memorable treats were mussel papillote with Asian herbs, Tom Yum lobster Thermidor, and Australian beef tenderloin Rossini – we loved them all..Tex-Mex cuisine also features and the El Mio restaurant team’s signature ceviche is a must try, as are the smoked pork ribs, Pecanha and brisket, beef and cheese mini tacos, sour cream, and guacamole.BBQ is also on the menu and the expert grillers cook a host of smokey delights on the charcoal barbecues.
Cheese and dessert lovers can also choose from a selection of creamy and sweet treats..Final thoughts: Trader Vic’s lavish, exotic brunch is as good as ever offering terrific value for money – it remains one of our favorite places to brunch on Sunday..We loved the new seating areas, the outdoor terrace and the colorful, creative, eye-catching food displays – well done to the Trader Vic’s team. We also loved the island resort vibe that was enhanced by the live band and their chilled tunes..So, if spending a breezy afternoon on the banks of the Chao Phraya River – indulging in great food and enjoying a lush garden setting sounds good – we recommend Trader Vic’s wholeheartedly. It’s a great spot for adults, and kids alike, and all diners also receive a pool pass to relax in the hotel pool..
