Karmakamet Conveyance – Luxury Experience: Chef “Som” Jutamas Theantae

A brand new fine-dining venue located in Sukhumvit soi 49. Asian-inspired creations that use old-fashioned cooking techniques in a contemporary fashion. Karmakamet Conveyance is the cumulative work reflecting Chef Som’s culinary philosophy and experience throughout her years.

“Like a painting at a museum, when you really look at it and absorb it, you experience it in your own way, with your own interpretation. This is using your visual senses to stimulate art. At Karmakamet Conveyance, we use taste as a form of experiencing art.”

Chef “Som” Jutamas Theantae menu is an invitation to embark on a unique culinary journey designed to stimulate introspective wonders, thoughts, and memories.

Miracle Water – After 40 years of living in darkness, patience is awarded with an awakening of the senses.

The introduction and sequence of the tasting menu will be a mystery. The diners are encouraged to approach the tasting menu with an open mind, to set aside any preconceived notions and discover the story of flavors hidden within. As they reveal themselves, the diners may find that thoughts, feelings, and memories, not typically associated with what is seen on the plate, suddenly emerge.

Grains – Luxury does not always mean from distant places.

Close your eyes and while enjoy eating the food. Don’t think, just feel the sincerity of how the chef wants to talk to you throughout their food.

Chef Som creates recipes that embody memories of Asia without the limitations of borders. The flavors are deep and emotive without the need to overcrowd the plate or overpower the palate.

Rainforest – After the rain

Street – Hustling & Bustling

Phuket style crab curry, Siam Ruby pomelo served with onsen style egg, soft inside and crispy outside.

The curry contains different herbs and spices to create an exquisite original curry blend.

The diners may find themselves transported to another time or place, be it past or even future. Chef Som refines yet emotionally-charged and thought her provoking tasting menu.

Village – The unpredictable tastes of the moment of places in life.

Chef Som’s complex culinary technique and style take precedence over aesthetics, and it’s here you’ll find the beating heart to every dish.

Busy & Messy

The dining experience at Karmakamet Conveyance will be unlike any seen or tried before in Bangkok. Luxurious in setting and refined in taste, Chef Som does not compromise her vision to bring ‘truth in taste’ to discerning diners. Some may even say her cuisine is bordering on bold and daring.

It is fundamentally based on layers that create taste.

Presenting the dish and flavors that originate from different cultures, free from any agreement of how dishes should be served in any style of cuisine.

References from the past can sometimes stop us from finding new spaces, from finding love and freedom, and to accept things and others the way they are.” – Jutamas “Som” Theantae – Karmakamet Conveyance’s co-founder / Executive Chef

Chef Som practices age-old methods of cooking, using them to shape her own interpretations. The very heart and soul of her dishes are the culmination of ideas and conceptions born from her curious mind.

A sophisticated patchwork of fresh and transformed ingredients, to which Chef Som retains flavors in their truest form to present familiar comfort-food inspired dishes.
