VIVIN Grocery – Café & Bistro, Discover Bangkok’s Lunch Experience

“Conveniently Located in Sukhumvit Soi 19/2: Just 5 Minutes from Terminal 21 Shopping Mall and BTS Asok Station, VIVIN Grocery – Café & Bistro Offers a Unique Dining Experience with Locally-Sourced French Delights.”

My son and I have grown tired of the repetitive franchise restaurants that seem to dominate the dining scene in Bangkok’s shopping malls. We’re always on the lookout for unique dining experiences, places where we can savor delicious food and cherish our time together.

We’ve been hearing about VIVIN Grocery – Café & Bistro for a while now, and we finally have the chance to visit this month. This time, we’re planning to enjoy a delightful lunch there before we stop for shopping at Terminal 21 Asok.

The restaurant offers a diverse range of seating options, each exuding a cozy, cafe and bistro-style ambiance reminiscent of small towns in France. The warm and inviting atmosphere is complemented by the welcoming and attentive staff.

Before we placed our orders, we decided to explore the restaurant further. To our delight, we stumbled upon a remarkable selection of local Thai cheese, sausages, convenient take-away options, ready-to-eat products, rice, sugar, pickled vegetables, a variety of flours, dried fruits, and delectable homemade sweet treats. This discovery added to the charm of our dining experience.

The menu boasts an extensive array of culinary delights, including salads, sandwiches, steaks, cheeses, hams, pasta, and a variety of other tempting options. After perusing the menu, we simply couldn’t resist indulging in the local specialties.

When dining with family or kids, sharing food is absolutely fine. This approach allows you to try a diverse selection of dishes from the menu without the risk of feeling overly full, especially since kids often have smaller appetites. Additionally, considering that the food portions here are European-sized, sharing ensures that everyone can enjoy a variety of menu options while maintaining a balanced and delightful dining experience for all.

As for starters, we delighted in a small mixed charcuterie and cheese tower. This elegant dish featured three layers of goodness, showcasing fresh goat cheese, cow cheese, dried duck breast, and salami. A side of crispy baguette provided a delightful crunch, and a selection of dried fruits added a touch of sweetness and contrast to this visually appealing appetizer.

For our first main dish, the Duck Confit with sides is a must-try. The dish was a delightful blend of flavors and textures. The tender duck confit leg, perfectly cooked to a crispy golden brown, was the highlight of the dish. The creamy mashed potatoes offered a comforting and hearty element.

The Jambon-Fromage baguette, featuring artisan Parisian ham and Swiss-style cheese sourced from Chiang Mai, generously spread with butter throughout the bread, turned out to be an excellent choice for us that day. You have the option to choose between a half-sized or full-sized sandwich, and we decided to share a full-sized one. We savored each bite and thoroughly enjoyed the flavors and textures of this delicious sandwich.

Both of us are avid steak enthusiasts, so we couldn’t resist trying the Steak, which is sourced from Thai-Charolais beef raised in Nakorn Patom. The steak’s exceptional flavor is attributed to its meticulous wet aging process for 21 days, which enhances its taste profile. What made it an excellent choice for us was the array of side dishes available. We opted for the roasted organic vegetables, which included a salad composed of green beans and onions, all elegantly topped with a vinaigrette salad sauce. This combination of tender steak and flavorful sides made for a truly satisfying dining experience.

We shared a dessert, which was a Chocolate mousse consisting of 70% chocolate with a subtle sweetness enhanced by a delicate touch of fleur de sel. Chantilly cream was generously dolloped on top of the mousse, making it a perfect accompaniment to my cappuccino and providing a delightful finish to our meal.

We left VIVIN Grocery with a satisfied palate and a sense of appreciation for the commitment to supporting local suppliers and promoting organic, chemical-free products. It’s a place I look forward to returning to again and again, both for the delicious food and the warm, welcoming atmosphere.

But that’s not all – Vivin Grocery is not just a grocery store. It also serves as a charming Bistro and Cafe, where you can enjoy a delightful assortment of brunch options, mouthwatering dishes, and a carefully curated wine selection.

This place is perfect for brunch and an excellent spot to meet up with friends after work. They offer fantastic promotions and host events regularly. Be sure to visit their website for more information and updates on their upcoming happenings.
